Apalachee Center, Mobile Response Team (MRT)

*The Mobile Response Team (MRT) operates a 24/7 crisis hotline and provides services for people of any age in a mental health or substance abuse crisis; A feature of their service is in-person response to calls about mental health crisis; the MRT responds to all 8 counties in the Big Bend region but will have limited response depending on staffing resources; If the MRT cannot respond in person, they might offer video conferencing to the caller *The MRT aims to dispatch two counselors if they are available; they only respond to callers with one counselor if the individual is an existing Apalachee Center client that the MRT is familiar with; all other responses will be with two counselors or with law enforcement accompaniment if there is concern for safety in the home environment *After sunset and before sunrise, the MRT does not provide in-person crisis response unless requested by law enforcement or a public safety access point; They only provide in-person crisis response during business hours (8AM-5PM) *The MRT serves to reduce psychiatric hospitalization but will Baker Act or Marchman Act individuals if necessary; If a Baker Act or Marchman Act is necessary, then law enforcement will become involved; the MRT does not respond to calls where a suicide attempt has been initiated or where the crisis person is deemed at risk of harming others; They will recommend or will help contact CDA so EMS or law enforcement can dispatch to the home for the individual that has attempted suicide and needs medical attention

*Confidential, rapid HIV testing, ADAP, primary medical care and HIV/AIDS treatment available for HIV+ persons, administers Ryan White funds part B, PrEP and PEP, STD testing and treatment *Transportation available to and from medical appointment via bus passes or use of agency transportation *Mental health and substance use screenings and referrals to providers who accept uninsured individuals

*Offers primary health care to children aged 10 through adults: illness and well checkups, chronic disease management, lab work, radiology, pharmacy; full service dental care for adults; offers pap tests and well woman checkups; however family planning and prenatal care services both referred to other providers *Mental health case management and medication management; medication management occurs via video (telemental health) with a Nurse Practitioner from Apalachee Center; Most patients receiving mental health services are referred by Apalachee Center, and Apalachee clients can request to go there for appointments *Provides transportation to and from appointments for patients who qualify *Works with Bond Community Health Center to ensure patients full care

*Provides emergency psychiatric evaluations for persons experiencing a serious mental health crisis: suicidal, actively psychotic, or in some way a danger to themselves or others *Open 8AM-5PM, M-F; Outside of these hours persons should go to main TMH Emergency Room at 1300 Miccosukee Rd, phone: 850-431-0911 to receive same services *Nurse clinician or psychiatrist evaluates patients to determine if admission to either TMH Behavioral Health Center or Apalachee Center is needed for inpatient care *Persons determined to be an immediate danger to themselves or others who refuse voluntary admission to an inpatient facility may be involuntarily admitted under guidelines of Baker Act *Persons not needing admission to an inpatient facility referred to outpatient services in the community *To receive services, persons should call the main number or go to TMH Behavioral Health Center and explain nature of crisis to intake staff; strongly advised that person be accompanied by family or friend *No one turned away due to inability to pay; regular emergency room charges are billed to the patient
