Telehealth Booths

Taxonomy Code: LN-8400

Programs that utilize stationary booths equipped with computer technology and telecommunications equipment that allow health care professionals to virtually evaluate, diagnose and treat patients. Booths are placed in public places such as schools and libraries to connect patients to care in rural areas and for those without access to a stable internet connection or personal devices capable of video communication. The enclosed, soundproofed booths offer a video connection to conduct a telehealth appointment and may feature easy-to-use diagnostic instruments such as a blood pressure monitor, thermometer, scale, and oximeter to collect vital signs. Most telehealth booth programs are “self-serve” with limited on-site technical/operational assistance. Some telehealth booth programs may offer in person assistance from a medical assistant such as a pharmacist or nurse in addition to a telehealth connection with a physician or other health professionals.
